Read-a-Thon: my introduction

As is traditional, participants introduce themselves at the beginning of the event. Readers are encouraged to answer the following questions:

1)Where are you reading from today?
2)Three random facts about me…
3)How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
4)Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
5)If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
  1. Where am I reading from? Today I'm at home in Texas. Most of the time, I'll be sitting (or reclining) on my couch in the living room. I have a very cooperative husband who will take me out for all our meals today, so I'll be reading in the car to and from as well as reading at the table.
  2. Three random facts:
    1. I have a Kindle, a Sony Reader, and a BeBook Reader. I mostly use the Kindle, but enjoy the other two as well.
    2. I am a unrepentant packrat. Fortunately it hasn't reached "hoarder" status, but that hasn't kept my kids from threatening an intervention
    3. I have red hair—and the temper that goes with it.
  3. How many books in the TBR pile: Well, the total number of TBR books in the house is over 700. But for today, I made a list of 5 books that I'd like to read. I think I might complete 3 or 4 of them if I can stay focused.
  4. What are my goals? The only goal I have is to stay awake—and participating—for the entire 24 hours. The last 3 Read-a-Thons, I've fallen asleep in the wee hours.
  5. My advice: Don't get too comfortable. It's too easy to fall asleep if you're cozy. The only other advice is to remember that this is supposed to be fun. Don't get too wound up or let yourself get too competitive.

  2. Hello Hello! I feel like I'm reading really slow today myself, but I'm in a good relaxed mood and have actually already exercised for 30 minutes while reading a Wicked Lovely short story. Good Luck today, and I'll be back to check in on you later!
