Stacking the Shelves (11)

This week, I received a couple of new review books from Netgalley that I'm very excited about. Both are scheduled for publication in early January, and the publishers have asked for the review to be posted no earlier than two weeks before their release dates. That gives me plenty of time to read them and write a review.

The first book I received is Unbreakble by W. C. Bauers. It's his first novel and the first of a science fiction series, Chronicles of Promise Paen. The blurb from the publisher compares this book to John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War, which I enjoyed very much. I'm pleased to read and review this book for the author and publisher, Tor Books.

The second book is book seven in Alan Bradley's Flavia de Luce mysteries. As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust begins with Flavia heading to boarding school in Canada—the same school her mother attended as a teen. Flavia is a delightful character and once I discovered the series, I've eagerly picked up the next book as soon as it was available. Thanks so much to Bantam Dell for sending me this book.

Did you get any new books this week? You're invited to tell us all about it by joining the fun at Stacking the Shelves. According to the reviewers at Tynga's Reviews who host the meme:

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

    1. Elizabeth - thanks for stopping by and for commenting on several posts. I'm such a fan of Flavia de Luce -- if you haven't met her, start with the first book in the series, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.

    1. Hey -- thanks for stopping by and leaving a link to your blog. I see that you, like several others, combine your STS and weekly summary into a single post. I may wind up doing that eventually.
