The Tuesday Memes

This week's Top Ten Tuesday, asks bloggers to list “Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit (whether fictional or real)”. I'm immediately reminded of Robert Heinlein's “Lost Legacy”, the longest story in Assignment in Eternity. In this story, a group of academic discover how to use telepathy. They feel drawn to Mt. Shasta in California, and once there, they discover a colony of adepts who train them in many paranormal capabilities and recruit them to help rid the world of power-seeking evil. Since reading the story as a teenager, I had longed to visit Mt. Shasta and I finally had the opportunity in August 2007.

I know I won't visit all the places that I'm attracted to—heck, it's not possible to visit some of them. That doesn't really dash my dreams, though.

  2. I'm with you on the Amelia Peabody series making me want to visit Egypt - and crawl around in a pyramid! I love the Hamish Macbeth series too, although I probably wanted to visit the Highlands before I discover that series.
