Month in Review: August 2015

August was a amazing month for reading, not so much for blogging. I completed 19 books which contained a total of 5527 pages. That took me to a year-so-far total of 132 books and 38,281 pages. With a yearly goal of 200 books and 50,000 pages, I'm now back on schedule for the book goal and very far ahead of the page goal.

Two things contributed to completing so many books: the Bout of Books 14 read-a-thon and a week-long vacation. Since they occurred at the same time, I was able to read a record five books during the week.

I really like to share statistics. Of the 19 books which I read this month, two were audiobooks and three were conventionally printed books. The remaining 14 were electronic books. I read nine mystery novels, 3 of which were for Middle Grade readers. There were four mainstream novels, two paranormal, three science fiction, and one non-fiction book. One of the SF books and one of the mainstream books were aimed at young adults. Three of the 19 books were advance reader copies, two from NetGalley and one directly from the author.

Books I read:

2015 Challenge Update:

In progress toward challenges, I've now supassed my goal of reading 50 books from the library. This completes the Snagged @ the Library and I Love Library Books challenges. I'll continue to keep track of library books just to see how many I read during the year.

I've written ten reviews for the 42 Science Fiction Challenge. I still need to get busy and produce some reviews so that I can complete this challenge by the end of the year.

Progress toward all the reading challenges I have taken on this year is being recorded on my 2015 Challenges page.

  1. Oh you did really well in August. I want to read the quilting book series by Jennifer Chiaverini, just need to make space and time. 200 books is a challenging challenge! I will need to up my quota for 2016 but I hate seeing when I get behind!! Must be brave.

    1. In terms of the number of books and pages read, August was one of the highest ever. Yeah, that goal of 200 was picked thinking that I was going to be reading a lot of kids books. That hasn't really happened and I'm going to be pushing to meet the goal by year-end. I recommend the Elm Creek Quilts series. They are cozy reads with an ensemble cast.
