Sunday Summary: 12 September 2015

Where I've been reading

It was so nice being home all week for the second week in a row. The week started with the Labor Day holiday. Then I had a few crises pop up at work and felt like I was chasing my own tail at times, but it was nice that I was at home when this happened. It was so much better than being on a business trip when I would have had more obligations to interfere with resolving the problems that had arisen. It can't last, however. I'm heading out on Monday afternoon.

What I've been reading: Completed this week

This week I did a little bit of catching up on series that I enjoy. I read a novel and two novellas from J. D. Robb's In Death series: New York to Dallas, Midnight in Death, and Chaos in Death. I also read one more book in each of the two series that I've challenged myself to complete this year. The Rose Rent is the 13th volume in the Brother Cadfael series by Ellis Peters, and The Aloha Quilt is the 16th in Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilts series.

What I've been reading: In progress

I'm starting the week reading a library book and an ARC that I promised to review. From the library, I picked up Jade Dragon Mountain, a murder mystery set in China in the early years of the 18th century. As I write this, I've just barely started reading, so I'm not sure whether I will like it or not. The book I received for review is Fires of Invention, the first book in The Mysteries of Cove, a steampunk-ish story by J. Scott Savage. It's due to be published on 29 September, so I'll be posting a review fairly soon.

    1. That's what had happened to me - I read Creation in Death (#25) in August 2012 and then just hadn't gotten around to reading any more. But I've been binging on them for the last couple of months.

    1. Definitely like the series. I am trying to get one book every week or two from the library. I probably won't catch up with all the ones that are out -- at least not in 2015 -- but I'm enjoying them so very much.

      Thanks for leaving a comment.

  4. Nice to have time at home, shame it has to come to an end lol. I didn't realise I was so far behind with JD Robb, up to book 13 but for some reason I've also read 18. So many series to catch up on, oh for a few more hours in the day! Happy reading :)

    1. I just got back home from this week's trip to North Carolina. I enjoyed the meetings, but I am glad to be back at home. I sometimes read a book out of order, but it's my preference to read a series straight through.

    1. Hmmm... the cloning one. I think that must be one I haven't read yet. I'm on the wait list at the library for the next book. I should be getting it in the next week since they give you a 3 week check-out and I've been waiting since the 7th.
