Stacking the Shelves (39)

Happy Independence Day!

I've just gotten back home from a week-long road trip. While I'm tired of sitting in the car for long hours at a time, I'm all refreshed and ready to return to work on Monday. A couple of good things about road trips:
(1) I have lots of uninterrupted time to read
(2) I don't have to go to work
(3) I'm offline most of the time

The important part of #3 is that if I'm offline, I'm not shopping for books and I'm not borrowing any from the library and I'm not requesting review books. This means that my TBR stack isn't growing. So this week, the only new books are from the weekly give-away at SYNC Audiobooks.

Freebies:

Book Cover: Echoes of an Angel by Aquanetta Gordon At 2 years old, Ben Underwood lost his sight. Shortly afterward, his mother noticed that Ben was clicking his tongue and listening to the sounds of the clicks bouncing back to him. He had developed the rare skill of echolocation, similar to the way bats navigate in the dark. In Echoes of an Angel Ben's mother Aquanetta tells the story of how Ben learned to interact with his world—riding a bike, shooting baskets, and even playing video games.

Book Cover: Buddha Boy by Kathe Koja Jinsen is the new kid in school. A Buddhist, he wears oversize tie-dyed T- shirts, shaves his head, and always seems to be smiling. He's so different that he quickly becomes the target of bullying. Justin knows how brutal the popular bullies can be and wants to stay far away from Jinsen. But then he's paired with Jinsen for a project in their economics class. The audiobook of Buddha Boy has been created as a full-cast recording.

How about you? Any new books? You're invited to tell us all about it by joining the fun at Stacking the Shelves. According to the reviewers at Tynga's Reviews who host the meme:

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

  1. Great Reads today for you and you can listen to them!

My StS has a lot more on it, but means you have to weed through more.

    1. Listening is a great way to double-up -- read and get some other chore done at the same time.

I don't mind weeding through other people's StS. The only problem is that my wishlist keeps growing.

    1. They're new to me as well -- that's one thing nice about the SYNC give-aways. Not every book appeals, but the program is definitely worth following.

Thanks for stopping by this week.
