Sunday Summary: 20 December 2015

This week I'm combining my Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves. I've been ignoring my online presence—forums, blog, Facebook, even e-mail—for a couple of weeks as I focus on taking care of things at work. Now that I have a couple of weeks of vacation at the end of the year, I hope to be a bit more visible.

With Christmas coming up, I'm lucky to have two grandchildren nearby to share the holiday with. Yesterday, I flew to Las Vegas to pick up grand-daughter Victoria for a two-week visit with her Daddy. Since he had to work yesterday, I had the honor of escorting her to Texas. He'll take her back just in time for school to start up again.

Where I've been reading

A week ago I was returning from New York City. Everything was brightly decorated and I was fortunate that the weather was quite mild. In fact, I kept wishing I had left my coat at home and just taken a light-weight jacket to keep the wind at bay. I read on the plane both directions and then read in my hotel room each evening instead of turning on the television.

This week just past, I was blessed to be at home. I tried to make plenty of time for reading as I really would like to make my goal of 200 books for 2015. I knew it was a stretch goal when I set it, and I'm running out of time!

What I've been reading: Completed this week

This week I've completed 6 books. That may be record for me. I did select one mid-grade book and a young adult book, both of which read very quickly. Actually, when I set my reading goal for 2015, I thought I was going to be reading a lot more YA fiction than I have. If I had stuck to the plan of reading more YA novels, I don't think I'd have had trouble reaching the goal. However, I've really exercised the library this year. Three of the books I read this week came from the library. Two were review books from NetGalley, and the sixth came from the Kindle Unlimited program.

And, I've read several short works which fill in the Witch Central and Modern Witch series by Debora Geary: Feathers and Swordfights and Lullabies.

What I've been reading: In progress

As usual, I've started reading several books and will finish them (or not) as the mood strikes me. I'm still listening to The Guilty by David Baldacci. It's the latest book in his Will Robie series and I'm enjoying it very much. On my Kindle, I'm reading the final book in Debora Geary's Witch Central series, A Dangerous Witch, which I borrowed from the Kindle Unlimited subscription. And, for review, I'm reading Milky Way Repo by Michael Prelee.

This Week on the Blog

I said I've been offline, and the blog shows it. I did post a hasty review of Cards of Grief, a science fiction novel by Jane Yolen. And that's it.

I'm pleased to be linking up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. And with the reviewers at Tynga's Reviews who host Stacking the Shelves.

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on the blog, showcase books and things received. Share news about what is coming up on the blog for the week ahead.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
