Stacking the Shelves (51)

Congratulate me. Another week has gone by and I haven't bought a book. I'm still satisfying my craving for new (or new-to-me) books by borrowing from the library.

From the library:

Book Cover: The Heist by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg So, did you ever watch White Collar on television? You know, a charming con-man gets sprung from jail and works with the FBI to capture other con-men. Well, that's sort of the premise of Janet Evanovich's new Fox and O'Hare series which starts with The Heist. Nick Fox is a con man and he gets partnered with FBI agent Kate O'Hare—with a huge slush fund to draw from to set up their cons. It's a fun series with high-speed chases, first class flights, champagne and chocolate, and a bit of romantic tension on the side.

Book Cover: Pros and Cons by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg Pros and Cons is a short story, prequel to The Heist. It tells the story of an early meeting between Nick Fox and Kate O'Hare, before the partnership is formed. Nick's current con has him posing as a wedding planner as cover to steal art and treasures from the groom's apartment during the ceremony. Once she realizes what Nick has planned, Kate is determined to head him off, prevent the theft, and arrest him.

Book Cover: The Chase by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg As soon as I finished reading The Heist, I picked up the second book in the Fox and O'Hare series, The Chase. I love the fact that my library has so many good books available in eBook format which allows me to borrow them and download no matter what time of day it is. Weekends & holidays, too.

In The Chase, Nick and Kate have a deadline to recover a rare Chinese brass artifact, stolen many years before and now in the possession of a former White House chief of staff. After reclaiming the artifact, they are led on a prolonged chase from Washington DC, to Shanghai racing to return the heirloom to the Chinese government.

Book Cover: The Union Quilters by Jennifer Chiaverini The Union Quilters, is the 17th (of 20) books in the Elm Creek Quilts series. Set in the early days of the U. S. Civil War, the women of Elm Creek Valley in Pennsylvania are left behind when their husbands, sons, and brothers are mustered into the Union Army. The Bergstrom women—Anneke and her sister-in-law, Gerta—join with their neighbors to make quilts and raise funds to support the troops from their community. Weaving the account of the company's battles in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia with the stories of the community they left behind, Jennifer Chiaverini has brought a compelling account of a change to the very fabric of American life.

How about you? Any new books? You're invited to tell us all about it by joining the fun at Stacking the Shelves. According to the reviewers at Tynga's Reviews who host the meme:

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I slipped over to read your STS. I don't know how you keep up with so many review copies. I'd get them read fairly quickly, but I drag my feet at writing the reviews.
